Mike Winters went to law school to help people solve and avoid legal problems. Before beginning his legal career, he was a police officer for six years after graduating magna cum laude from York College of PA in 1986 with bachelor’s degrees in Criminal Justice and Political Science.
The desire to help others with their legal problems, combined with his law enforcement experience, gives Mike a unique perspective when it comes to providing you with knowledgeable and aggressive representation. Mike concentrates his practice in the areas of criminal defense, DUI defense, juvenile law, traffic citations, motor vehicle offenses and driver’s license problems.
In 1996, he received his law degree from Temple University, Beasley School of Law, where he participated in the Trial Advocacy program. He has extensive litigation and courtroom experience, and also experience in front of a variety of administrative bodies, including representing people before professional licensing boards. He firmly believes that as they say at the Temple University Beasley School of Law, “Trial Advocacy is a discipline. Not a sideline.”
An active member of the Pennsylvania and Lancaster Bar Associations, Mike serves on the Animal Law and Corrections Systems committees of the PBA and previously served on the Board of Directors of the Lancaster Bar Association as the Long Range Planning Chair. He is a member of the PA Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and has been appointed to serve with the Investigative Division of the Pennsylvania Bar Association Judicial Evaluation Commission. Mike is also frequently selected by Judges of the Lancaster County Court of Common Pleas to serve as Guardian Ad Litem for children in custody and juvenile court cases.
Born and raised in Ephrata, Pennsylvania, Mike currently resides in Manheim Township, Lancaster County with his wife and daughter and is devoted to his community. Mike served for eight years with the Manheim Township Zoning Board and is currently a Manheim Township School Board Director where he is Chair of the Judiciary Committee.
