FLU AND CORONAVIRUS UPDATE - Click Here To Read

In these rather anxious and uncertain times, you can rest assured that the lawyers and staff of McMahon Winters Strasko remain focused on providing you with excellent legal representation.

As you are no doubt aware, circumstances are fluid and subject to change as we all continue to move forward, and eventually beyond, this novel coronavirus outbreak.

We trust that our government leaders are working to keep us safe and that our courts are making changes on account of COVID-19.

On March 18, 2020, the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania closed all PA Courts to the public for non-essential functions until April 3, 2020. That same day, Lancaster County Court of Common Pleas President Judge Ashworth closed the Lancaster County Court of Common Pleas and all Lancaster County MDJ Courts to the public, except for certain emergency proceedings until, at least, April 15, 2020.

UPDATE as of APRIL 1, 2020

On April 1, 2020, the PA Supreme Court extended its Order of March 18, 2020 and directed that all PA Courts remain closed generally to the public through April 30, 2020 and allowed the President Judges of each judicial district to issue Orders as necessary, based on local conditions, to protect the health and safety of court personnel, court users and others.

Accordingly, On April 1, 2020 President Judge Ashworth issued an Order directing that his Order of March 18, 2020 be extended to April 30, 2020. For CRIMINAL CASES: All criminal jury and non-jury trials and court events have been suspended, and the court has directed that all emergency matters and motions be conducted by audio or teleconference.  For FAMILY LAW CASES: Cases scheduled for support conferences, child custody, equitable distribution and divorce have been suspended. Emergency matters are to be addressed by the Court telephonically on a case-by-case basis.

Please know that these changes are not permanent, nor is the situation static and changes already made will, no doubt, be subject to additional revisions as time progresses.

If your case is going to be affected by any of the changes made by our government leaders or the Court, we will communicate this to you, explain the circumstances, and answer your questions so you remain informed about your legal case and can focus on your health and the health of your loved ones.
